St George's Day 2017

Scout Groups from across North Bristol Cabot District came together on Sunday 23rd April to celebrate St George's Day. A service of celebration was held in Clifton Cathedral with the parade of some 20 groups starting at Cifton College and parading through the Clifton Streets before arriving at the cathedral. The parade was led by the 2152 ATC Squadron Band.

Cabot Scout District are very proud to announce that we have grown by an impressive 13.5% in the annual Scout census with an 8.6% rise in Young People joining in the fun and adventure local Scouting offers - that's over 120 MORE young people than last year, taking our total district membership to over 2,000! Namaste Nepal Update

The Namaste Nepal Scout Active Support Unit was set up in 2012 to help local people develop Scouting in Meghauli, Chitwan, close to the jungle in Nepal.

With help from the Friendship Clinic (a local family-Scouting-based charity founded by Pete and Beryl Shore), and Clinic Nepal (a medical centre in Meghauli), we are now supporting 3 Scout Troops and the first-ever Cub Pack in Chitwan. Chief Scouts Awards Presented to 62nd

14 Scouts and recently ex-Scouts of 62nd Bristol Troop were presented with their Chief Scouts Gold Award at a ceremony last night. 62nd Scout Troop, which meet in Horfield, have 2 Troops both of whom were represented last night. Steve Wiseman, Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts, was on hand to present them with their certificates. 

The Chief Scouts Gold Award is one of the highest awards a Scout can achieve, Scouts require dedication and skill in order to cover all the requirements. ...

A Leap of Faith under Menacing Skies...

227th Kestrels Cub Pack from Henleaze in North Bristol enjoyed an evening leaping for faith at Wild Place. The Cubs were lucky enough to brave the Leap of Faith, crate staking, climbing and the mighty Big Swing. Screams could be heard across Bristol as all the Cubs and their leaders stood up to their nerves to have a go!

The excellent staff at Wild Place were very complimentary to the well behaved and polite 227th. 

A fantastic evening which 227th highly recommend to other groups.

Adult Awards in Cabot District

Cabot District is full of hardworking volunteers who commit a huge amount of their time to ensure that all our young people gain the very best Scouting possible to help them develop, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

First Cabot District Beaver Badge Day

Nearly 150 Beavers from Scout Groups all across North Bristol joined forces on Saturday 30th January 2016 for their first Badge Day. Come the end over 400 badges had been awarded with most Beavers gaining at least 3 badges.  

Badges awarded included: photography, disibility awareness, creativity, emergency aid, International and to coincide with Tim Peake's space mission: the space badge.

District Cub Badge Day

Over 300 badges were awarded at Cabot District Badge Day 2016. Cubs from across North Bristol gathered together at Northcote Headquarters in Westbury-On-Trym, Bristol for a day of hard but fun, badge work. Nearly 150 Cubs were involved and some of the badges they worked hard for included: Collectors, Hobbies and Musician. Among the tasks the Cubs were tested on included first aid, safety and artistic skills although cooking on the altar fires were a highlight for most!

In Scouting, we are committed to giving young people the chances they need to support their communities, while developing their skills at the same time.  Three quarters (73%) of Scouts in the UK volunteer in their local communities every week.
